RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) — A child found dead in a hot car in South Carolina Friday has been identified.
Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford reported the victim was 3-year-old Armani Shoemaker.
"Our hearts are broken by the life of Armani being cut short by this unexpected tragedy," Coroner Rutherford said. "Losing a child is one of the most unimaginable situations that can happen and our thoughts and prayers go out to this family. We will continue working with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department to fully investigate this incident."
On May 3, Richland deputies responded to a call for a missing person in the 1000 block of Parliament Lake Drive.
When deputies arrived, they began the investigation until they found the child in a hot vehicle.
The child was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.
This incident is under investigation.
