CENTRE CO, Pa (WJAC) — The now permanently closed Macy's department store in the Nittany Mall is donating store fixtures, mannequins and store furniture to several nonprofits in the area.
One of those is the Faith Centre in Bellefonte, an outreach ministry that operates a thrift store and food bank benefiting people living in Centre County.
The thrift store is closed right now, but the food bank is still distributing food items for those who need them.
Faith Centre workers say they're using the nonessential business shutdown to update their look with the items given to them by Macy’s.
"During the shutdown, what we're doing is we are working on giving the Faith Centre sort of a facelift by deep-cleaning and reorganizing our shelves. This is very timely. It's going to really help us a lot. It will help us create a more open and welcoming atmosphere when the store reopens."
Faith Centre says there's a food distribution event Thursday at its food bank starting at 1 p.m.
