Shooter and PSP Trooper dead, second Trooper seriously injured in Juniata Co.

JUNIATA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) UPDATE | PSP in Mifflintown says another Trooper has been injured and now killed in two incidents involving the same shooter.

Authorities say a man was first engaged by officers in Mifflintown Borough at around 12:45 p.m.

CBS 21 News and WJAC 6 News currently have crews on scene.

During this initial incident, one State Trooper was shot and seriously injured, before being transported to a nearby hospital.

Later at around 3 p.m., officials say the shooter was found near Swamp Rd. and Baumgardner Dr. in Walker Twp.

The public is asked to avoid the area as the scene is currently active.

Video captured by one resident, Shawnna Elsasser, audibly shows the exchange of gunfire, with numerous bullets loudly ringing out on camera.

Law enforcement says Troopers and the man opened fire, resulting in one Trooper and the suspect being shot and killed.

Gov. Shapiro and PSP Colonel Christopher Paris are now at the hospital where the wounded trooper from the incident at 12:45 p.m. was taken.

PSP says the names of the two Troopers and the shooter will be released at a later time.

It is unknown at this time what lead up to the shooting.
